The College has entered the RACV Energy Breakthrough for the past 13 years. Over those years Highview has entered 39 teams at the Breakthrough and as well entered teams at Murray Bridge , Wonthaggi and in 2009 a junior team will race in the Casey 6 hour race. The Energy Breakthrough has allowed our school to compete successfully against visitors from all over Australia. The Highview trikes have been built by our students, past students and parents. In 2008, we entered three teams in the following sections Year 7 & 8, Year 9 & 10 and Open.
The Energy Breakthrough is the biggest event held in Maryborough and during the week of the Breakthrough the town's population doubles. In 2008, the event hosted over 330 teams from over 130 schools who traveled to Maryborough from Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales, Queensland and Team Pecos from New Mexico (USA). It has been an exciting program for the school because it has certainly allowed our students to explore their interest in design, welding, engineering and at the same time increasing their fitness.
