Highview College

The College is committed to providing, within staffing and budget restraints, as much assistance as possible to students requiring additional support. The main focus of assistance will be in the Junior Secondary years with a primary aim being to make staff aware of the particular details of learning problems experienced by current students, and to develop students’ skills to the point where they can be independent learners. Strategies to encourage and assist students to be more organized and to complete work within given timelines will be adopted for some students. An “Intensive” program operates at Year 7 to provide additional support for a small group of students in English and Maths. Learning Support Aides assist the teacher with many of the English and Maths classes at the Junior Secondary level.
